How to Enroll in Each Plan
Enrollment can seem overwhelming, but we’re here to help! We put together this quick guide on how to enroll in each of our plans. Note that most plans are only available during Open Enrollment, which occurs annually in the fall.
Aflac (Active City and County employees only)
To enroll in Aflac, you just need to go to our Aflac Enrollment page https://sdpeba.org/city-aflac-enrollment. Once there, you’ll find a detailed guide that walks you through the process step-by-step. It should take no more than 20 minutes!
Aura
Our Cyber security plan with Identity theft insurance is one of our most popular plans! You can enroll by going to our OE site during Open Enrollment. https://oe.sdpeba.org/city-cybersecurity. On our site you can click “Enroll Now” to be taken to a form that takes around 5-10 minutes to fill out.
Dental
For MEA employees: you will be able to enroll in MetLife Dental’s HMO and PPO plan through SAP.
This plan is not available to Local 127.
Other City employees are able to enroll in this plan on our website during Open Enrollment: https://oe.sdpeba.org/city-dental. On our site you can click “Enroll Now” to be taken to a form that takes around 5-10 minutes to fill out.
Health (Active and Retired City Only)
Note that this plan is not available to SD Fire
All of our Sharp options are available through SAP during Open Enrollment for Actives and RHSC for Retirees.
Legal
Our Legal plan is available on our OE site during Open Enrollment. https://oe.sdpeba.org/city-legal. On our site you can click “Enroll Now” to be taken to a form that takes around 5-10 minutes to fill out.
Life
To enroll in Aflac Life insurance, please follow the steps listed above for Aflac.
To enroll in our individual life insurance policies, email support@sdpeba.org or call 888-315-8027. From there we will set up an appointment with on of our specialists.
Long-Term Care (Active City Only)
This new plan is available during Open Enrollment. To enroll, you’ll need to head to their site https://enrollforlife.com/Account/Company/. Once there enter “SDPEBA” for employer and then follow the instructions. It can take anywhere between 5-20 minutes.
Pet
We offer two different pet insurance plans, one through MetLife and another through Nationwide. The plans offer subtle differences, our biggest tip is to get a quote with both! It takes under 5 minutes to get a quote from either plan and once you do, it should make the decision a lot easier.
Purchasing Power
This online budgeting tool lets you pay with your paycheck. It is not a discount program. SDPEBA members get access to their catalogue for free, you just need to make an account on their site: https://www.purchasingpower.com/store/registration. Then enter “San Diego Public Employee benefit Association” for City/Retirees and San Diego County Probation Officers” for County employees.
Vision
MEA represented employees are able to enroll in VSP through SAP.
VSP is available during Open Enrollment and the enrollment form can be found on our site: https://oe.sdpeba.org/city-vision. Once there, you can click “Enroll Now” to be taken to a form that takes around 5-10 minutes to fill out.
Wellness
Best Health is a free service that provides SDPEBA members with access to dozens of resources to make living healthy easier. You can get started by going to our site and following the instructions to enroll https://sdpeba.org/city-wellness
