Whether you have your plans through SDPEBA or through the City, now is a great time to get your medical appointments on the books. Most offices get increasingly busy as the year goes on. Meaning the best time to get set up with appointments is right now!
Below is a quick guide on how to find an in-network provider for SDPEBA’s medical, dental, and vision plans.
Finding a Doctor
Sharp’s “find a doctor” web tool provides an extensive list of nearby available doctors, making it easy to find one and make an appointment. You can filter by language, specialty, and location. They even have a map feature, making it easy to see which doctor is closest to you!
- Go to www.sharphealthplan.com/findadoctor
- Choose the Choice, Premier, or Sharp’s Direct Advantage network (depending on your plan) from the drop-down menu.
Note: If you have the Classic plan, you’re a part of the Choice network. If you have the Select/Saver plan, then you’re a part of the Premier network. If you’re a retiree with the Direct Advantage plan, then you’re a part of the Direct Advantage Network. - Enter your zip code and type of provider you’re looking for to narrow your search.
Finding a Dentist
MetLife’s online tools make it easy to find a dentist quickly. Their site also provides additional details, like if they are accepting new patients, what languages their office speaks, and their office hours.
If you have the HMO Plan…
Note: Under an HMO plan you should already have a dentist as reflected on your MetLife ID Card or you can head to their website to view your coverage and who your dentist is. You can change your dentist by calling us at 888-315-8027.
- Go to www.metlife.com
- Select “Find a Dentist”
- Select Dental HMO/Managed Care
- Enter your Zip code
- Click Find a Dentist.
- From the ‘Select Your Plan’ drop down menu, select Met100. Click GO!
If you have the PPO Plan…
- Go to www.metlife.com
- Select “Find a Dentist”
- Select PDP Plus
- Enter your Zip code
- Click Find a Dentist.
Booking an Eye Exam
VSP’s online search tool lets you find doctors and even gives you a preview of what brand frames these doctors carry. Just remember, you don’t necessarily have to buy glasses where you get your exam. VSP allows you to go to plenty of retailers, such as Costco, Walmart, and VSP’s online store, Eyeconic. But you’ll need a recent eye exam before you can head to these locations.
- Go to www.vsp.com
- Under “Find a VSP Doctor” enter your zip code and click “Search.”
- The next screen will provide you with a list of providers and the ability to refine your search. SDPEBA is on the Choice Network.
